The renter must provide a credit card, passport and driving license. You can rent a car for around 25 - 35 Euros a day. These are just guidelines, so do check with the car hire company to clarify the cost and documentation needed.
Speed limits are in kilometres per hour, and are as follows:
- Motorway: 130kph/80mph
- Open Road: 90kph/55mph
- Dual Carriage Way: 110kph/68mph
- Town: 50kph/31mph
In built-up areas, you need to give way to traffic coming from the right unless a yellow diamond indicates you have priority. On roundabouts, you give priority to traffic coming from your left.
Snow chains are recommended to be carried during winter, and, if you do not carry and fit at the appropriate times, the police can prevent you from continuing your journey. Winter tyres are recommended, but not compulsory.
